Walk by Faith

"True dependence is not simply asking Me to bless what you have decided to do. It is coming to Me with an open mind and heart, inviting Me to plant My desires within you."

I LOVE THIS! It's what I read this morning, in the time I dedicate to walking and talking with God. It was in Sarah Young's book, Jesus Calling: Enjoy Peace in His Presence (p. 6)

I also read, “Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you. I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others-Gen 12:1-2

Abram did as the LORD instructed, he was 75 years old. (I was feeling a little old to make this move, and I'm not even 60 yet.) As Abram settled, he built alters to the LORD. I wondered, what can I do that is a worshipful sacrifice of praise? Because of Jesus’ precious sacrifice, we no longer need to sacrifice an animal. As I wondered, the idea came to me—You could write a song, to ‘mark’ the event and worship God. I came up with these words as I drove to MOPs this morning. They were rough, so I tweaked them a little later. The music part of the song is yet to come.

Walk by Faith

(My Altar)

I heard a voice, Lord was that You?

Is this what You want me to do?

I took a step. I walked in faith.

You made it happen —this is Grace.

It’s so hard for me to see

Why such love—You have for me.

I don’t know why You love me so,

But I do know that I must grow.

Give me eyes to see Your will,

Ears to hear, a heart You fill.

Lead me Father, all the way.

I’ll strive to follow every day.

With this song, I build an altar.

May my worship never falter.

You are holy, You are good.

And if Your will’s not understood—

I’ll walk by faith and not by sight,

knowing that Your way is right.

While taking steps to follow You,

I know that You will see me through.
